When you feel the earthquake (local time)

->

Shaking Power *MMI II (Very weak agitation)?

People :
I felt at rest, by people on the upper floors or appropriately placed.

MMI III (Weak agitation)?

People :
I felt off; Hanging objects can be shaken, vibration similar to the passage of light trucks, time can be predicted, can not be considered earthquake.

MMI IV (Slightly shaking)?

People :
Usually noticeable indoors, but not outside. Mild sleepers may be awakened. Vibration can be like passing heavy traffic or jolting a heavy object that falls or hits the building.
Pieces :
Rattle doors and windows. Glassware and pottery rattle. Liquids in open containers may be slightly spoiled. Permanent motor vehicles can slide.
Buildings :
The walls and frames of buildings and partitions and suspended ceilings in commercial buildings can be heard creaking.

MMI V (Medium shake)?

People :
It is often felt outside and indoors by almost everyone. Most sleepers awoke. Several people are on alert.
Pieces :
Small unstable objects are dislodged or upset. Some glassware and plates may be broken. Hanging pictures hit the wall. Open doors can be swung. Cabinet doors secured with magnetic latches can be opened. The pendulum clocks stop, start or change the ratio.
Buildings :
Some big showcases cracked. Several ceramic ware fittings cracked.

MMI VI (Strong shaking)?

People
Felt by everyone. People and animals are on alert. Most of them run outside. Difficulties in walking steadily.
Pieces :
Objects fall off the shelves. The pictures fall off the walls. Some furniture was moved on smooth floors, while some unsafe independent fireplaces were moved. Glassware and pottery were broken. Very uneven furniture overturned. Small church and school bells ringing. The tools move at the bench or desk. Filing cabinets or "easy glide" drawers can be opened (or closed).
Buildings :
Slight damage to buildings of low standard. Some plaster or cement plaster drops. The big shop windows were broken. When several weak indigenous chimneys are damaged, some may fall.
Environment, environment :
Trees and shrubs shake or rustle. Loose material is available from sloping ground, eg slides, talus slopes, tile slides.

MMI VII (Very strong shaking)?

People
General alarm Difficult to stand. The motor vehicle that could stop it was noticed by drivers.
Pieces :
Big bells ring. Furniture moves on soft floors and can move on carpeted floors. Serious damage to the fragile contents of buildings.
Buildings :
Cracked unreturned stone and brick walls. Small standard wall falls and low standard buildings cracked. A few examples of damage to ordinary labor buildings. Unbraced parapets, unbraced brick grids and fall architectural ornaments. Roof tiles, in particular tread tiles, may be dislodged. Many non-reinforced chimneys were damaged, most of them fell from the roof line. Type of water tanks exploded. Several situations that can damage brick coatings and plaster or cement based primers. Unrestricted water tubes (hot water tubes) may move and leak. Some common windows were broken. The suspended ceiling was damaged.
Environment, environment :
The water was blurred by mixing the slurry. Small slippage such as the fall of sand and gravel, and small rock falls from steep slopes and sections. Examples of settlement of unconsolidated or wet or weak soils. Some fine cracks appear on slopes. Several examples of liquefaction (ie small water and sand outlets).

MMI VIII (Severe shaking)?

People
The alarm may approach the panic. The orientation of motor vehicles has been greatly influenced.

Buildings :
Low standard buildings were heavily damaged, some collapsed. Ordinary workmanship buildings were damaged, some of them partially collapsed. Reinforced walls or in some cases damaged concrete structures. A few examples of damage to buildings and bridges designed and built to withstand earthquakes. Monuments and pre-1976 high tanks and factory stocks were bent or lowered. Some pre-1965 damaged fill wall panels. After 1980 several brick pavement was damaged. Heaps of rotten lumber were damaged. Unsafe houses are moved to foundations. Most of the unstructured internal chimneys were damaged, some under the roof line, many of them destroyed.

Environment, environment :
Cracks are seen on steep slopes and wet ground. Small to medium slides for roadside cuts and unsupported excavations. Small water and sand outlets and streams, canals, lakes and so on. Adjacent localized lateral span.

MMI IX (Severe concussion)?

Buildings
Many low standard buildings were destroyed. Ordinary labor buildings were heavily damaged, some of them collapsed. Reinforced walls or reinforced concrete buildings damaged, some partially collapsed. Buildings and bridges designed and built to withstand damaged earthquakes in some cases have been severely damaged by flexible chassis. Damage or permanent deterioration in some buildings and bridges designed and built to normal use standards. Houses that were not connected to foundations were closed. Brick pavements fall and expose the frames.

Environment, environment :
Cracking of noticeable soil. Landslide general on steep slopes. Liquefaction effects are concentrated and more common; flow, channels, lakes and so on. Adjacent large lateral spread and flow drift.
