Cold is a viral infection, there is not much you can do to eliminate it. This means that most of the drugs people swear – vitamin C, essential oils, elderberry syrup – only produce you. feel better, not literally fighting with the common cold. Associations are powerful things. You can be miserable at work and going home, but when you go under a blanket and bring some soup in front of you, you might think. Yeah, I'm finally looking at myself.
Or maybe you're used to a particular placebo that makes you feel that you're doing something active and purposeful. No one in the air can dissolve a tablet in water, because they like taste or feel a warm connection with the Target they have purchased, but maybe it gives you a kind of chemistry lab where you create a drug and dose it with yourself.
Then use this association if you want. Just realize that it doesn't have to depend on a particular product. Instead, you can mix honey and hot tea, or choose a different childhood memory to recreate. Stop doing things you hate
If you have a placebo that you swear but you hate, stop using it. You feel sickening, but you hate ginger ale? Never mind. Doing things you hate won't help you get better (unless you know the real medical treatments mentioned for a particular reason, that's not what I'm talking about here). And in fact, it is possible to feel worse If you are convinced that something is ineffective or harmful – this is called the nocebo effect.
If you have a ritual, you always do it, even if you hate it, change something you want instead. If someone gives you a natural cough syrup, you can't enjoy it, then drop it quietly and throw it away.
Eat well and sleep well
Taking care of ourselves often means more common meaning than certain elements or incentives. If you're using all your placebo, you're probably taking some time to relax, looking for patients to work with, drinking extra fluids, and probably getting all the other things that make more difference than any home solution.
