Microsoft patents give tips on Surface Pro, redesigned with a thinner keyboard

Microsoft has applied a patent for the design of a Surface Pro Type Cover that will potentially be thinned. The patent identified by WindowsUnited contains details about cutting or engraving the Surface Pro keyboard to create a thinner version. Microsoft also seems to be attempting to integrate the trackpad directly into the circuit board used on the keyboard.

Microsoft was selling the Surface Pro Touch Cover with a slimmer profile and fabric keys, but the company has focused on replacing the Surface keyboard in recent years. The keyboard was fixed with minor improvements from the Surface Pro 4 to Surface Pro 6, and the old-style covers are still working on modern devices.

A thinner design of the keyboard will conform to rumors that Microsoft will heavily redesign the next Surface Pro. Describes resources familiar with Microsoft's plans Anger The company is experimenting with USB-C, thinner screen frames and a more rounded design such as Surface Go. Microsoft is expected to release this new Surface Pro at the end of 2019.
