Bollore has previously held the position of vice president – general manager and became operations manager of Renault. Lafayette was one of the leading executives of the French car manufacturer.
Earlier Tuesday, Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le May said the company's chairman, Carlos Gon, would be "detained" and "would not have a chance to run the company" because of the charges against him in Japan. He called on "a temporary leadership" to ensure the management of the company. At the same time, he stressed that the presumption of innocence and the French tax authorities will remain in office during the Renault hearing, as Gon has no knowledge of any violation of the law.
At the same time, Bruno Le Mayor emphasized that the role of the French state is to "stabilize the Renault position" and to unite the company's "alliance" with the Japanese company Nissan.
Japanese carmaker Nissan Greg Kelly's 64-year-old Ghosn and board member were arrested by investigators from the Tokyo prosecutor's office on suspicion of violating Japanese financial law on Monday. In five years, he claims that Carlos Ghosn received nearly 10 billion yen (almost $ 89 million) as a prize from Nissan. At the same time, he declared about half to pay taxes.
