Music columns with Spotify Connect work with free version

There are more music columns with associated or supported streaming services. In the columns with Spotify, the required service can stop at Premium, but this may be for several days.

Spotify has now announced that the free version will allow its subscribers to stream music from columns that support the Spotify Connect service.

Free Spotify gains more advantage

We recently tested two examples of smart columns based on streaming music services. In the case of Apple HomePod, this device only supports Apple Music without a free usage template (only 30 days to try).

Bose speaker, in the case of Bose Home Speaker 500, you have several services that you can associate with this column, including Spotify. If the premium version is required earlier, it will now be possible for the company to use the free account.

But when can this be possible?

Do not close or open the column only. To take advantage of the change, hardware vendors must upgrade to the latest Spotify SDK.

Spotify's free level was still limited compared to Spotify Premium, but in April, when the renewed application of the service was introduced, unpaid subscribers were allowed more freedom to be heard.

Rather than being forced to mix tracks through the catalog, the service could freely select the playlists (15), which were played by the users, the music tracks, but they still had to listen to the ads after a few tracks.

Of course, Spotify will not open more range because the company's main business is the Premium model. Therefore, it brings limitations in the free model, for example, not allowing downloading songs on your smartphone or computer, it can be listened offline and offers lower quality sound quality.

Will premium users stop paying?

There may be some who do, but it will surely be a residual number. It's worth investing, listening to music without ads, listening to offline, superior sound quality and downloading songs for other benefits.
