This figure was broken nationally when it was revealed that the HPV vaccine was destroyed in excess of 18,000.
The reason for this was that the state entered into an agreement with a new vaccine producer this fall. Since the agreement with the old manufacturer allowed only the doses to be used in the childhood vaccination program and allowed the young new vaccine to be made in the fall, the rest of the others had ended.
HPV is easily transmitted to sexual intercourse and can cause cancer (see case box below).
The vaccine is now included in the child vaccination program for both boys and girls. In addition, all women in 1991 or later may receive a free vaccine if they take the first dose at the end of December this year.
Extra vulnerable groups
This summer, the State, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and the pharmaceutical manufacturer agreed that more doses could be used in other vulnerable groups.
In October, the Municipality of Bergen created an offer for sex addicts and men who were born in 1991 or later, having sex with men and men.
"We found Strax House and MO Centers to provide women in vulnerable environments. They have a bad recommendation and say they are more susceptible to infection," says Agnes Giertsen, health nurse at the Engen Health Center and Høgskolen på vestlandet (HVL) university Instructor, BA & # 39;
Vaccinations are offered at the hourly booking in the Smittevern office. In addition, the health center for youth and students in Engen offers a drop offer for men who have sex with men between the ages of 10 and 14 on Thursdays.
– Vaccinations end in summer, so you must take the first of three doses by the end of November. There are many vaccines that are still not used, so we need urgency to achieve this, "says Giertsen.
– Know we saved lives.
Ordered 300 doses in the meadow.
– Here is the first service principle. He emphasizes that these vulnerable groups only receive free vaccines until they are empty.
This fall, a group of nursing students from the HVL had an osm project to disseminate the message about the vaccinations of the relevant groups.
In recent weeks I noticed that there are many more young men who want to have the vaccine here. Everyone says they have seen information on campuses, so the students did a good and important job, says the health nurse.
. If I get a vaccine, I ask him to spread his message further, it's incredibly valuable for someone to come here, as long as we get to the most possible groups in the groups we want to reach.
Even if you don't get the first dose within the time limit, you can get two doses for free.
– All doses count. One dose is maintained, well maintained with two and maintained for life with wood, "says Giertsen,
. Both socioeconomic and personal, the profits here are enormous. We know that we save lives.
