(ANSA) – NEW YORK, FEBRUARY 18 – The hijacker, accused of shooting and killing the father of American rapper Nicki Minaj, was arrested. US officials announced this last night.
Police said 70-year-old Charles Polevich was accused of “leaving the site of a fatal crash and scrambling evidence”. Polevich claimed not to be guilty and was released after bail of $ 250,000, his attorney Michael Scotto was questioned by CNN.
Nicki Minaj’s 64-year-old father, Robert Maraj, was walking down the street in Mineola, Long Island, New York, when he was hit by a car last Friday.
The driver ran away and Maraj was taken to the hospital where he died the next day on Saturday.
Born in Trinidad and Tobago and raised in Queens county near where his father was killed, the 38-year-old rapper from New York has yet to formally speak. (OVERCOMING).
