Buying the PS5 has proven to be incredibly difficult, and most stocks are sold instantly. However, you may have another chance before the end of the month, as Target is reportedly planning a series of new PS5 stock drops across the US.
Spiel Times reported that new Target stocks could appear anytime on January 19, 20, 21 or 22. This seems uncertain, but the Spiel Times accurately reported on the previous Target PS5 stock on December 29; gave this as one of several possible PS5 stock dates. So while this is a rumor for now, it’s worth listening to.
This new report explains that PS5 units will be shipped to Target stores individually. If you’re fast enough, you’ll still be able to buy it online. It lists 3am to 7am as the times Target usually broadcasts its PS5 stock. Specifically, they suggest checking the Target PS5 stock between 5:00 am and 7:00 am when it tends to be restocked.
However, the exact amount of stock available will depend on how many Target branches are in your area, whether they have bought any PS5 shares, and how many, if any.
This is another caveat: One of Spiel Times’ sources claims that each store only holds 4 to 12 units, while the other says it could be anywhere between “over 20” with a single PS5. Combine this low availability with not knowing exactly when the stock can be ordered, and it’s almost certainly a matter of the need to check it regularly to increase your chances of securing a PS5. And being lucky enough to live in an area where more consoles are allocated.
Unfortunately, this is the current reality of figuring out where to buy the PS5: a lot of friction and crashes around. Still, we always hope that more opportunities are on the way.
Indeed, Sony has begun to announce that its PS5 stock will be restocked, even if console shortcomings are expected to last at least a few more months.
