Pune police has issued a surveillance circular regarding the 2018 Pune-registered fraud case against KP Gosavi, one of the independent witnesses of the Bureau of Narcotics Control (NCB) in the cruise ship drug seizure case, a senior official said on Wednesday.
A surveillance circular is a notice that prevents a person from leaving the country.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta said, “We have issued a circular against KP Gosavi, who fled in the 2018 fraud case filed against him at Farashhana police station.” Said.
Gosavi is one of nine independent witnesses in the cruise ship raid and alleged drug retrieval that Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, was arrested earlier this month.
According to the police, Gosavi was arrested for allegedly cheating a Pune-based man on the pretext of offering a job in Malaysia.
Chinmay Deshmukh, who was allegedly cheated by Gosavi with Rs 3.09 lakh, filed a complaint against him. The complaint said Deshmukh contacted Gosavi, who posted an ad on social media about some gaps in the hotel industry in Malaysia.
An official from Faraskhana police station said, “Gosavi received Rs 3.09 lakh in installments from him in bulk while promising a job in Malaysia. However, he neither offered him the job nor paid him back.”
The complaint against Gosavi was filed in 2018 under various IPC sections, including 420 (cheating) and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.
