CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – A SpaceX delivery filled with Christmas gifts arrived at the International Space Station.
The dragon capsule was shot in Florida three days after launch from Florida.
Two attempts were made to keep the Dragon close enough to be caught by the robot arm of the space station.
NASA canceled Dragon's initial approach because of a problem with the communications network serving the space station. NASA's Tracking and Data Relay The equipment failure in New Mexico for the satellite system caused a temporary loss of communication with the station. For security, Mission Control decided to have Dragon backed up.
After NASA switched to another TDRS (T-driss) satellite, it took two hours successfully – only an hour and a half later.
Dragon keeps everything the station astronauts need for Christmas dinner.
