Scherbak is a Russian citizen who has played in 29 career NHLs, all in Montreal. He's 23 years old on December 30th.
Scherbak, who is 6-2, 192 pounds from Moscow, played five games with the American Hockey League's Laval Rocket this season and did not appear in a game with Canadiens.
Last season, he competed in 26 regular season games with Canadiens and scored six points, including four goals. One of his goals came to the power game and one was short-lived.
In his first NHL games, Scherbak made his NHL debut in 2016-17, and scored his first goal in a row. Originally Montreal's first tour in 2014 was the draft selection (26 in general).
