Fatal head-on collision in North Vancouver set the car on fire, caught traffic for hours – BC


A horrific head-on collision between North Lake and a night-on-highway truck lost one-hour local traffic Saturday night.

It was around 7pm between Lynn Valley Road and the Mountain Highway outlets.

Passenger vehicle – a Modo Car Share rental car – lit the fire and tried to help a few drivers to extinguish the flames and rescue the passengers. One of these passengers is believed to have died at the scene.

A third vehicle was also involved in the multi-vehicle accident.

There is no specific word from RCMP with respect to other drivers or passengers or other possible injuries.

RCMP closed Highway One from Mountain Highway through Lynn Valley Road in both directions until early Sunday morning.

The motorway has reopened as of about 1:30 on Sunday morning since then.

The collision occurred temporarily because of the construction on the new overpass in an area where no concrete was divide.
