Can fish oil and vitamin D supplements protect us from diseases?

American doctors have found that the most common dietary supplements do not reduce the risk of fish oil and vitamin D, cardiovascular disease and cancer.

However, at higher doses prescribed by doctors, fish oil helps people with high triglyceride levels and reduces the risk of death from cardiovascular disease.

The professionals welcomed the results of two studies presented at a conference of the American Society of Cardiologists. They said it was a guide for a new treatment option for hundreds of thousands of patients.

About 10 percent of Americans drink fish oil supplements. Nevertheless, they use vitamin D, but no major research has been done on their benefits.

"Vitamin D supporters claim to be useful for everything but this particular study proved that vitamin D is a great thing" James Stein, a cardiologist from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

It is found in fish oil, salmon, tuna and some other fish, also called omega-3 fatty acids. Reduces triglycerides and reduces inflammation. There are different types of fish oil with different dominant fatty acids.

In a study, doctors from Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston watched the effect of 4 grams of fish oil supplements sold only on prescription. In the study, 8000 patients with high triglyceride and the risk of cardiovascular problems taking statins were higher. Five years later, 17 percent of smokers survived an event – heart attack, stroke, obstruction of arteries requiring medical attention, 22 percent of people in placebo.

This means that high-fat fish oil supplementation, according to BTA, reduces the risk of cardiovascular events by 25 percent. However, there are side effects such as arrhythmia.

The second study with a lower daily 1 gram of fish oil containing 26,000 healthy volunteers in the same hospital did not show any difference between the addiccine and placebo group, although the initial infarcts were less.

The second team also tested the effect of additives. D. Participants of the study were drinking 2000 international showcases. D-3 or placebo for five years. The results show that the vitamins of the sun do not affect the risk of heart attack, stroke or cancer, but the latter has fallen slightly.
