River-Boca: The president of Conmebol said "football is not won by stones or aggression, players do not win in court" – 11/26/2018

Prior to the upcoming meeting on Tuesday, he will be held in Paraguay with his boss Boca and the presidents of the River Conmebol Alejandro Domínguez wrote a letter rejecting the events of last Saturday:Football is not won by stones or aggression; Won by players in court".

In addition, Rodolfo made a call to his counterparts on leadership in dealing with D 'Onofrio and Daniel Angelici.Understand that their responsibility is beyond just defending their colors and the interests of their partners.”First of all, they have responsibilities against South American football, they are often devalued and criticized in our country, but they are appreciated in the rest of the world,“ he said.

Full letter:

"On Saturday, November 24, world football history will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. This, as the last one in CONMEBOL Libertadores, was supposed to be a final for memory in the last round-trip format. In the end we had a day to fill us with sadness and shame; not only football, but in all areas of society, a deep thought and serious self-criticism is something to put forward.

Despite the fair play agreement signed by all the warnings given to those responsible for security from both the heads of the finalist clubs and the CONMEBOL, the stadium and the environment have been the scene of irrational violence and seemingly unpunished, against the players, from the public, children and families, neighbors. Vandalism was painful. The barbarity that took over football put many lives at risk.

As president of CONMEBOL, I do my best to ensure everyone's integrity: from the players to the public, I couldn't wait to wait patiently for the painful situations outside the show and solve the responsibility of CONMEBOL. I called the authorities of both clubs, waited for medical reports, reviewed the institutional protocols, and finally, when they finally reached agreement with both presidents, I made decisions for the good of all interested parties.

On behalf of CONMEBOL, it is my duty to hold those responsible for ensuring the security of the incident and public order. Clearly, the protocols failed and the authorities did not measure these situations. Now, what is left to do is to take immediate action to identify, capture and implement justice for those who cause too much damage.

As leaders of the River Plate and Boca Youngs, I am trying to understand that their responsibilities in their hands go beyond just defending their colors and the interests of their partners. Above all, they often have responsibilities to South American football devalued and criticized in our country, but they have appreciated the rest of the world.

I demand the same to the media, my respect, equality and perspective, to inform the public in the correct way, to relate the facts, to fight the wrong information, and to remove the mask of false visions and visions.

In the CONMEBOL, which I made as president, football is not won by stones or aggression. It is won by the players in the court. And mostly with the quality of our players in South America. In our presidency CONMEBOL, we are playing in the stands, in leadership, having a fair game as a vision in the field, respecting the opponent.

Finally, I urge all actors in South American football to have a priority and to participate in efforts to identify, understand and combat the causes and actions of violence that inflict our football. There's a lot more than a sports title. All actors in South American football will join forces to end violence or be responsible for violence to end South American football".
