"Prisoners may apply for compassionate leave and should be considered by the head of the center, taking into account the criteria that list a number of variables.
Nxumalo said she accompanied Pistorius to the memorial service and returned to the correction center ever since. The world-famous athlete was imprisoned in Atteridgeville, east of Pretoria.
It was reported that Pistorius, whose 101-year-old grandfather, Hendrik Pistorius, had fought the disease on October 19th.
Pistorius is sentenced to 13 years in prison at the Atteridgeville Correction Center for the murder of her boyfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, in 2013 on Valentine's Day. It is likely to be eligible for parole around 2023.
